LACKING LANDMARKS
Amy Thomas solo show 10th April -26th April
Private View 10th April 19:00- till late
Lacking Landmarks
Landmarks: Structures built initially to aid sailors navigate featurless coats.
I aim to create situations and objects of compulsion, concealment, communication and conciousnss.
Lacking Landmarks refers to a state of mental and physical loss wherby a fictional character ("explorer") has attempted to create geographical landmarks in hope to find their way back or through an area.

The back room showcases three seperate works: 'Saint Lucy', a wax sculpture. 'Seeking Music', a performance of two blindfolded musicians that play together but slightly out of time and' With Micheal' The remains from a days personal "performance" from Michael (a 41 year old artist with severe autism) creating, questioning and destroying his clay sculptures.

Michael creates all his sculptures by working from the inside out. For example when making a body he will firstly make the heart, then the skin, then the clothes. Although the viewer will not be able to see what is on the inside of his sculptures it is integeral to michael that everything is in place.
